ASSESSMENTS & CURRICULA

Safe Center for Autism believes in the importance of creating Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) that cater to the needs of each individual receiving services at the center. The following assessments are used to design each student’s education plan:

VERBAL BEHAVIOR MILESTONES ASSESSMENT& PLACEMENT PROGRAM (VB-MAPP)

The Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP) is used to assess students’ learning and language skills. The VB-MAPP is a research-based assessment that brings together the procedures and teaching methodology of Applied Behavior Analysis and a functional analysis of verbal behavior. The skills assessed may include the mand, tact, echoic, intra-verbal, listener, motor imitation, independent play, social play, matching to sample linguistic structure, group and classroom skills, and early academics.

ASSESSMENT OF FUNCTIONAL LIVING SKILLS(AFLS)

The Assessment of Functional Living Skills (AFLS) is used to assess students’ essential skills that will help them live a more independent life. The AFLS focuses on assessing basic living, home skills, and vocational skills (among many other skills) with the goal of incorporating objectives in the learners’ Individualized Education Plans that will help them gain more independence in their daily living activities.
